How Shield referral links work
Every Shield subscriber gets their own referral link. This explains what it actually does on both sides, why a link that worked yesterday might not today, and how this board handles that.
What a referral link is
A short URL tied to one subscriber's Shield account, carrying a ref ID and a coupon code as query parameters. Shield's own subscriber portal calls it a referral link.
The reward is on both sides, straight from Shield's own FAQ: the new subscriber who signs up through the link gets 5% off their plan, and the person who shared it gets one month free. That can happen up to 30 times per referrer — 30 months free, total.
Subscribers who want to refer more people than the standard link supports can apply to Shield's own Champion program, mentioned in their FAQ but not something this board has details on beyond that.
How to use one
Click "Get Shield with this link" on the board, or copy the link and open it yourself when you sign up.
Confirm the 5% discount shows up during signup — that is the part this board can verify from the outside.
Why links stop working
This board cannot see inside Shield's account system. It cannot confirm whether a given referrer has already reached their 30-month cap, whether the coupon on an older link is still active, or whether the link was ever exchanged for something already claimed.
If a link does not apply, show a different one and try again rather than assuming something is wrong on your end.
The weekly reset
Every link on this board clears each Monday at 8:00 AM Eastern.
The alternative — letting links accumulate — produces a long list that is mostly stale, where every link is a coin flip on whether the referrer still wants the traffic. Clearing the board weekly means anything present was added by someone in the last few days.
Whoever is still actively sharing a link re-adds it after the reset. Links nobody bothers to re-add simply disappear, which is usually the correct outcome.
